But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.

I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:

It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.

If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.

       我的第二个故事是关于爱和损失的。

       I was lucky – I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a billion company with over 4000 employees. We had just released our finest creation - the Macintosh - a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.

       I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down - that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me – I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

       I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

       During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the worlds first computer animated feature film, Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I retuned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.

       I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

       My third story is about death.

       我的第三个故事是关于死亡的。

       When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

       当我十七岁的时候, 我读到了一句话:“如果你把每一天都当作生命中最后一天去生活的话,那么有一天你会发现你是正确的。”这句话给我留下了深刻的印象。从那时开始,过了33年,我在每天早晨都会对着镜子问自己:“如果今天是我生命中的最后一天, 你会不会完成你今天想做的事情呢？”当答案连续很多次被给予“不是”的时候, 我知道自己需要改变某些事情了。

       Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

       About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn't even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor's code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you'd have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.

       大概一年以前, 我被诊断出癌症。我在早晨七点半做了一个检查, 检查清楚的显示在我的胰腺有一个肿瘤。我当时都不知道胰腺是什么东西。医生告诉我那很可能是一种无法治愈的癌症, 我还有三到六个月的时间活在这个世界上。我的医生叫我回家, 然后整理好我的一切, 那就是医生准备死亡的程序。那意味着你将要把未来十年对你小孩说的话在几个月里面说完.；那意味着把每件事情都搞定, 让你的家人会尽可能轻松的生活；那意味着你要说“再见了”。

       I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I'm fine now.

       This was the closest I've been to facing death, and I hope its the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:

       No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

       没有人愿意死, 即使人们想上天堂, 人们也不会为了去那里而死。但是死亡是我们每个人共同的终点。从来没有人能够逃脱它。也应该如此。 因为死亡就是生命中最好的一个发明。它将旧的清除以便给新的让路。你们现在是新的, 但是从现在开始不久以后, 你们将会逐渐的变成旧的然后被清除。我很抱歉这很戏剧性, 但是这十分的真实。

       Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

       When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notion

       Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

       汽车术语

       1、整车装备质量（kg）：汽车完全装备好的质量，包括润滑油、燃料、 随车工具、备胎等所有装置的质量。

       2、最大总质量(kg)：汽车满载时的总质量。

       3、最大装载质量(kg)：汽车在道路上行驶时的最大装载质量。

       4、最大轴载质量（kg）：汽车单轴所承载的最大总质量。与道路通过性有关。

       5、车长(mm)：汽车长度方向两极端点间的距离。

       6、车宽(mm)：汽车宽度方向两极端点间的距离。

       7、车高(mm)：汽车最高点至地面间的距离。

       8、轴距(mm)：汽车前轴中心至后轴中心的距离。

       17、最大爬坡度(%)：汽车满载时的最大爬坡能力。

       18、平均燃料消耗量(l/100km)：汽车在道路上行驶时每百公里平均燃料消耗量。

       19、车轮数和驱动轮数(n×m)：车轮数以轮毂数为计量依据，n代表汽车的车轮总数，m代表驱动轮数。

       20、概念车（Concept Car）是汽车制造厂家在车展会上推出的，以体现超前设计思想和水平的样车。概念汽车主要用以展现制造厂家雄厚的科研和新产品开发能力，同时也起“引导消费”的作用。

       发动机的基本参数

       缸数：汽车发动机常用缸数有3、4、5、6、8缸。排量1升以下的发动机常用3缸，2．5升一般为4缸发动机，3升左右的发动机一般为6缸，4升左右为8缸，5．5升以上用12缸发动机。一般来说，在同等缸径下，缸数越多，排量越大，功率越高；在同等排量下，缸数越多，缸径越小，转速可以提高，从而获得较大的提升功率。

       气缸的排列形式：一般5缸以下的发动机的气缸多采用直列方式排列，少数6缸发动机也有直列方式的。直列发动机的气缸体成一字排开，缸体、缸盖和曲轴结构简单，制造成本低，低速扭矩特性好，燃料消耗少，尺寸紧凑，应用比较广泛，缺点是功率较低。直列6缸的动平衡较好，振动相对较小。大多6到12缸发动机采用V形排列，V形即气缸分四列错开角度布置，形体紧凑，V形发动机长度和高度尺寸小，布置起来非常方便。V8发动机结构非常复杂，制造成本很高，所以使用的较少，V12发动机过大过重，只有极个别的高级轿车采用。

       气门数：国产发动机大多采用每缸2气门，即一个进气门，一个排气门；国外轿车发动机普遍采用每缸4气门结构，即2个进气门，2个排气门，提高了进、排气的效率；国外有的公司开始采用每缸5气门结构，即3个进气门，2个排气门，主要作用是加大进气量，使燃烧更加彻底。气门数量并不是越多越好，5气门确实可以提高进气效率，但是结构极其复杂，加工困难，采用较少，国内生产的新捷达王就采用五气门发动机。

       排量：气缸工作容积是指活塞从上止点到下止点所扫过的气体容积，又称为单缸排量，它取决于缸径和活塞行程。发动机排量是各缸工作容积的总和，一般用于升（L）来表示。发动机排量是最重要的结构参数之一，它比缸径和缸数更能代表发动机的大小，发动机的许多指标都同排气量密切相关。

       最高输出功率：最高输出功率一般用马（ps）或千瓦（kw）来表示。发动机的输出功率同转速关系很大，随着转速的增加，发动机的功率也相应提高，但是到了一定的转速以后，功率反而呈下降趋势。一般在汽车使用说明中最高输出功率用每分钟转速来表示（r/min），如100ps/5000r/min，即在每分钟5000转时最高输出功率100马力。

       最大扭矩：发动机从曲轴端输出的力矩，扭矩的表示方法是N.m/r/min，最大扭矩一般出现在发动机的中、低转速的范围，随着转速的提高，扭矩反而会下降。当然，在选择的同时要权衡一下怎样合理使用、不浪费现有功能。比如，北京冬夏都有必要开空调，在选择发动机功率时就要考虑到不能太小；只是在城市环路上下班交通用车，就没有必要挑过大马力的发动机。尽量做到经济、合理选配发动机。

       5V：V是英文“阀门”（value）的首写字母。传统轿车发动机气缸普遍采用4阀门结构，即2个进气阀门、2个排气阀门，保证了进气排气的充分、有效，有利于发动机转速的提高，从而达到发动机的最大功率。5阀门技术目前在国外汽车公司已经广泛应用，新近在我国上市的“宝来”已采用5阀门技术，即3个进气阀门、2个排气阀门。德国大众汽车公司是5阀门应用的佼佼者。

       ABS：是英文“anti－lock break system”的缩写，中文译为“防死锁刹车系统”。它是一种具有防滑、防锁死等优点的安全刹车控制系统。没有安装ABS系统的车，在遇到紧急情况时，来不及分步缓刹，只能一脚踩死。这时车轮容易抱死，加之车辆冲刺惯性，便可能发生侧滑、跑偏、方向不受控制等危险状况。而装有ABS的车，当车轮即将到达下一个锁死点时，刹车在一秒内可作用60至120次，相当于不停地刹车、放松，即相似于机械的“点刹”。因此，可以避免在紧急刹车时方向失控及车轮侧滑，使车轮在刹车时不被锁死，轮胎不在一个点上与地面摩擦，加大了摩擦力，使刹车效率达到90％以上。

       GPS是Global Postioning System的简称，GPS主要功能有防盗功能、反劫功能、导航功能。

       1、ESP 是英文ElectronicStabilityProgram的缩写，中文译成“电子稳定程序”。

       2、ABS 是Anti-LockBrakeSystem的英文缩写，翻译过来可以叫做“刹车防抱死系统”。

       3、EBD- -电子控制制动力分配系统

       4、ASR 是驱动防滑系统的简称，其作用是防止汽车起步、加速过程中驱动轮打滑，特别是防止汽车在非对称路面或转弯时驱动轮空转，并将滑移率控制在10％—20％范围内。由于ASR多是通过调节驱动轮的驱动力实现控制的，因而又叫驱动力控制系统，简称TCS，在日本等地还称之为TRC或TRAC。

       5、GPS 即全球定位系统（Global Positioning System）是美国从本世纪70年代开始研制，历时20年，耗资200亿美元，于1994年全面建成，具有在海、陆、空进行全方位实时三维导航与定位能力的新一代卫星导航与定位系统。经近10年我国测绘等部门的使用表明，GPS以全天候、高精度、 自动化、高效益等显著特点，赢得广大测绘工作者的信赖，并成功地应用于大地测量、工程测量、航空摄影测量、运载工具导航和管制、地壳运动监测、工程变形监测、资源勘察、地球动力学等多种学科，从而给测绘领域带来一场深刻的技术革命。

       6、OBD 是英文On-Board Diagnostics的缩写，中文翻译为“车载自动诊断系统”。这个系统将从发动机的运行状况随时监控汽车是否尾气超标，一旦超标，会马上发出警示。当系统出现故障时，故障(MIL)灯或检查发动机(Check Engine)警告灯亮，同时动力总成控制模块(PCM)将故障信息存入存储器，通过一定的程序可以将故障码从PCM中读出。根据故障码的提示，维修人员能迅速准确地确定故障的性质和部位。

       7、WAAS

       跟踪性能也就是广域增强差分GPS的精确度，关于广域增强差分GPS解释如下： 广域增强差分GPS（WAAS）是WAGPS发展而来。在功能上，为用户提供完善性广播，差分校正信号和附加的测距信号。在该系统中,地面基准站用GPS接收机监测GPS信号。并将监测数据发到主控站。主控站计算位置校正值及其有效性。然后将数据通过卫星发给GPS接收用户。

       WAAS和DGPS的根本区别在于：

       1. 在误差处理方法上，由主控站分离空间的相关性，分别计算出星历误差，星钟误差及大气传播延迟误差，提高定位精度。

       2. 主控站发播的电文除了修正数据以外，还有完善性信息。电文调制在GPS的L1频率上，使得该通信卫星也能提供测距，增加了GPS星座中的卫星数目，提高了系统的可用性和连续服务性。

       3. 用户设备不必另设数据链的射频接收部分，只要将GPS接收机留出一个接收通道加设WAAS电文提取和处理程序即可。

       8、所谓MFI，原意为Multiple Fuel Injection（多点燃油喷射），本身是一种成熟的发动机技术。

       9、DST

       所谓DST协同动力系统，通俗的来说，它不是一项技术，而是在采用多种先进、成熟的发动机技术的基础上，通过精心匹配和智能化控制系统，确保发动机系统各部分在车辆动态行驶环境下有机配合，实现整体能效最大化。

       10、MPV

       的概念来自美国，是Mini Passenger Van的缩写，本意是微型乘用厢型车(这里的“微型”，主要是针对Bus(巴士)这样的大厢型车来说的)。后来有人把它改成Multi-purpose Vehicle，强调其多功能性,是集轿车、旅行车和厢式货车于一身的车型。但时至今日，凡叫MPV的车，一定是厢型的，也就是我们俗称的面包车，而且它一定是用于乘坐人的。

       11、CKD(CompletelyKnockDown)全散装件

       CKD是以全散件形式作为进口整车车型的一种专有名词术语，在当地生产的零部件以较低的关税和较低的工资，利用当地劳动力组装成整车，并以较低零售价出售。

       12、RV

       的全称是Recreati&a Vehicle，.即休闲车，是一种适用于娱乐、休闲、旅行的汽车，首先提出RV汽车概念的国家是日本。RV的覆盖范围比较广泛，没有严格的范畴。从广义上讲，除了轿车和跑车外的轻型乘用车，都可归属于RV。MPV及SUV也同属RV。

       13、 ECU

       是英文单词组合缩写，意为“电子控制单元”，简要的说就是车载电脑。现在很多轿车发动机大都用电子燃油喷射系统，其中有一个形似方盒子的控制元件就叫“ECU”，简单地说，ECU由微机和外围电路组成。而微机就是在一块芯片上集成了微处理器（CPU），存储器和输入／输出接口的单元。

       14、BA

       BrakeAssist(BA)

       紧急刹车时，根据踩的速度、力度，制动系统自动感知而输出更强的制动力。

       1.危急状态时刹车，由于速度快，踩的力度小，有时输出的制动力很少。

       2.这时的驾驶者并不是一直死踩刹车，有可能造成制动力降低。

       3.“BA系统”在急速地踩刹车时自动判断是否紧急制动，即使力量不够也会加大制动力输出。

       4.“BA系统”在有意识刹车时，自动减少辅助制动力，减缓刹车时的唐突感。

       1，气门:控制进排气的阀门(就好比人的嘴和肛门)

       2，缸:燃油被燃烧工作空间(犹如人的肺部胸腔)

       3，扭矩:克服阻力转动的能力,前一个数字是指最大牵引力，后一个数字表示输出最大牵引力时发动机的转速.(犹如人在奔跑时所产生的爆发力)

       4，功率:一般指发动机输出功率.前一个数字是指最大马力，后一个数字表示输出最大马力时发动机的转速，(犹如人在极速奔跑时最大的速度和用这个速度能坚持多长时间)

       5，气帘:也是安全气囊的一种，一般的车是不会配备这个的，主要是防范侧面撞击保护驾乘人员的安全的，多见于前排座位两侧，后排是没有的.

       6，3.0L后面的L什么意思:排量升的英文代词"L"是单位.(犹如人的肺腔的大小,肺活量的多少)
